Norcross needs growth, and we deserve quality developers to help with that — a healthy city doesn't stand still. But growth should always work for the people who already call Norcross home, not just added density for the sake of growth. We need developers to bring creative options to the table, especially ones that open the door to more opportunities at homeownership. The research backs this up: a recent Habitat for Humanity study found that homeowners build roughly 400% more net wealth than renters with similar backgrounds, their kids are more likely to graduate high school and college, and homeowners are more likely to vote locally and get involved in their community. See the research. That's the kind of growth we can champion together — alongside real accountability and real transparency at city hall. It's YOUR city, allow me to be your voice.
If you've seen me at city meetings, you know I take accountability seriously. Showing up as a citizen matters, but it only gets you so far — a seat on the council comes with a vote, and that's where we can make meaningful change, together.
I'm not anti-apartment — rental units are part of a healthy housing mix. But Norcross's owner-to-renter ratio is already below state and federal averages, and this year's density legislation threatens to make it worse: 700+ apartments on Holcomb Bridge with no matching single-family development. I'll push for smart density downtown, with more owned homes — including townhomes.
Citizens deserve a simple table on the city website the day after council meetings showing exactly how each councilmember voted on every issue. Plus, we need to modernize and streamline the open records request process.
City Council was never meant to be a career, and term limits might be exactly what we need to bring fresh ideas through city hall. Elections matter, and voters always have the final say — but incumbency comes with real advantages that make those elections less competitive over time. I'll work with neighbors and council to investigate the feasibility of term limits for City Council and Mayor.
